Diversive Curiosity Poster
18x24”, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
For this experimental poster, I explored the ever-changing nature of the human desire to discover and understand. “Diversive curiosity” refers to a type of curiosity where an individual seeks out a wide variety of experiences and information rather than focusing on one particular subject. It’s a more broad and exploratory form of curiosity, where a person jumps from topic to topic and explores possibilities without a single focused goal in mind. This curiosity can be driven by an inherent desire to keep the mind engaged with diverse experiences.
In crafting this design, I experimented with a wide range of type treatments and arrangements to evoke a sense of tactile exploration. In the foreground of the composition, the golden typography reads “diversive curiosity” as it distorts and drips, becoming difficult to read but invites the viewer to look closer and engage in mindless yet purposeful observation. I chose a metallic gold to contrast the dark background, symbolizing wisdom, clarity, enlightenment, and intellectual illumination. Because gold is a metal that doesn’t rust or decay, it also symbolizes the idea of timelessness. Green symbolizes the energy and growth that fuels exploration. In layering all of these elements together, I aimed to create a composition that almost resembles a maze of scattered thoughts and ideas. In this way, the piece mirrors the very essence of diversive curiosity — an always fascinating search for something new and engaging.
