The Woodland Kitchen Cookbook

8.5x11”, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Procreate.

Group collaboration with ISU Graphic Design BFA students Kaelyn Corkery and Kiky Lin.

This hand-illustrated cookbook project was a massive undertaking but a ton of fun. Kiky, Kaelyn, and I, started our process by sketching out information and book layouts. We divided up the workload and began searching for recipes, gathering our information and figuring out a basic layout that could be used on all recipe pages. We wanted every recipe to be something that could be gathered at home, but we also wanted to make sure that it was safe to forage the ingredients.
My greatest contribution to this project was the illustrations. Once we gathered all information, recipes, and figured out the page layout, we decided that the only way we would be able to illustrate everything was by having a person who was strictly illustrating, so Kiky worked on additional illustrations and fixing basic layout, Kaelyn worked on placing information in the pages, and I strictly worked on hand-illustrating the ingredients, and arranging them within the blank recipe pages.
