Get Out the Vote

18x24”, Adobe Illustrator

Designed for the Get Out the Vote Campaign and Design Streak Studio, Spring 2024.

A heavy sense of guilt weighed on me going into my first election, because it was very clear who my family wanted me to vote for, but I knew in my heart that I could not support their same beliefs.
Chains break apart into the word vote, symbolizing the idea of breaking away from hateful ideologies.  Daisies grow throughout the heavy chains, which symbolize new beginning and perseverance. A deep purple shade is used in the background of the composition, growing lighter as it reaches the top, symbolic of power and ambition, representative of the power we each hold to make the change we want to see in America. It can be hard to begin thinking for yourself when you’ve been told what to think and what to believe in for most of your life, but this design represents the power that comes with breaking away from what you’ve known and standing up for your own thoughts, belief system, and truths.
